Cape EMS Bhd’s (KL:CEB) net profit jumped 58% to RM13.41 million or 1.35 sen per share in the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 (1QFY2024), from RM8.5 million or 1.07 sen per share a year ago, on better performance from its industrial and consumer electronic manufacturing services (EMS) segments.

Bursa Malaysia’s benchmark index continued its upward trajectory on Tuesday to end at its highest level since May 2022 on strong buying activities in heavyweights led by YTL Corp Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd and YTL Power International Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR: Continuous buying by funds and gains on heavyweights helped propel the benchmark FBM KLCI index higher on Tuesday.

The FBM KLCI remained in positive territory at midday on Tuesday, driven by continued buying activities in selected heavyweights, mainly the utilities sector.  YTL Corp Bhd gained 18 sen to RM2.68 a share, and YTL Power International Bhd edged up 12 sen to RM4.18. These counters pulled the composite index up by a combined 4.91 points.
