KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s rubber glove exports grew by 50.1% to RM15.06bil for the January-July 2020 period from RM10.03bil in the same period last year.
The growth was driven by higher demand and the government’s efforts to assist the rubber gloves industry, said Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Lim Ban Hong.
“Global demand for rubber gloves is estimated at 330 billion units for 2020, and Malaysia’s production for the export market is estimated at 220 billion units, which is 67% of the global demand.
“This is a good opportunity for our country to strengthen the brand and confidence towards Malaysian products internationally, ” he told the Dewan Negara.
