Perdana Petroleum accepts RM6.5mil charter job

KUALA LUMPUR: Perdana Petroleum Bhd's unit Perdanan Nautika Sdn Bhd has accepted a letter of award from Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd to charter an accommodation workbarge and anchor handling tug vessel for an estimated RM6.5mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said the contract is expected to commence from the issuance of the onhire certificate in August for 60 days, with an option to extend the charter period.

"The Contract is part of the strategic alliance between Dayang Group and PPB Group where the utilisation of its vessels can be maximised and qualified to bid for more offshore maintenance works," it said.

The contract is a recurrent related party transaction with Dayang Group, for which the group has obtained a mandate of RM120mil from its shareholders. Following this mandate, there has been RM17.1mil in transactions, including the current contract.

At the midday break, shares in Perdana Petroleum were trading at 17 sen apiece on the back of 1.6 million units exchanging hands, unchanged from the previous session close.
