/Nestle Malaysia appoints Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz as board member

KUALA LUMPUR: Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz  Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah to its board of directors effective from May 2.

Tunku Puteri Intan brings in with her extensive experience and notable achievements especially in social activism and humanitarian efforts which aligned with the company's environmental, social and governance agenda. 

Nestle Malaysia said her instrumental role in facilitating local communities development would further contribute to the company's community outreach efforts. 

"With Tunku Puteri's wealth of knowledge and expertise in ESG, the board is confident that her appointment will serve to propel the group forward in its journey of sustainable growth," it said. 

Nestle Malaysia also said Tunku Puteri was recognised as a trailblazer for social activism and humanitarian effort who played prominent roles in non-governmental organisations (NGO). 

Currently, she is the chairperson of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) and within the 75 year-history of MRCS, she is the first woman to be elected to the position. 

She is serving as the governing board member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies based in Geneva, Switzerland. 

Tunku Puteri Intan is also the chairperson of the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation, an NGO she established in 1996 to spearhead positive societal change in Kedah through education, community development, health and other initiatives.

Additionally, she is highly regarded for her role as royal patron and adviser to the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, a Unesco accreditation for the unique geological and sustainable ecosystem for the preservation of natural resources in Langkawi Island in Kedah.

Tunku Puteri Intan holds a Bachelor's degree in political studies from the prestigious University of Sussex, United Kingdom. 

As of today, she does not hold directorships in any other public limited companies.
